Chelation therapy was introduced into the United States in 1948. The treatment is well recognized by medical authorities around the world. Chelation therapy has already been administered to over 500,000 Americans and over one million Canadians, Europeans, Australians, and South Americans who suffered from hardening of the arteries. It was given to more than double those numbers for the elimination of heavy metal toxicity.

In describing the usefulness of EDTA chelation, two-time Nobel Prize winning scientist Dr. Linus Pauling stated, "Published research and extensive clinical experience showed that EDTA helps reduce and prevent arteriosclerotic plaques, thus improving blood flow to the heart and other organs. The scientific evidence indicates that a course of EDTA chelation therapy might eliminate the need for bypass surgery. Chelation has an equally valid rationale for use as preventive treatment."

In 1948, the FDA approved EDTA intravenous chelation as treatment for metal toxicity. EDTA was initially used as a treatment for industrial workers suffering from lead poisoning in a battery factory. Shortly thereafter, the U.S. Navy advocated chelation therapy for sailors who had absorbed lead while painting government ships and other facilities. Physicians then observed that adults receiving chelation treatments who had atherosclerosis also experienced health improvements, diminished angina, and better memory.

Chelation therapy is a safe, non-surgical treatment used to rid the body of excess toxins, particularly metals. These chelators draw out toxic metals and other harmful substances that impair bodily functions and help the body eliminate these toxins via the kidneys. Oral chelating agents can often prevent health problems from occurring by restoring circulation to the body's tissues. Chelation benefits every blood vessel in the body, from the largest veins to the tiniest capillaries and arterioles, most of which are too small for surgical treatment or too deep within the brain and other vital organs to be safely reached by surgery.

In arteriosclerosis, deposits of cholesterol, fats, and other substances collect on the walls of the largest to the smallest arteries in the form of hard plaque. It has been found that calcium acts as the glue that holds the plaque together. Chelating agents bind with this calcium and carry it out of the body (removing the dangerous heavy metals at the same time). This breaks up the plaque deposits, thus unclogging the arteries and permitting normal blood flow.

Plaque clots in the artery walls can affect your heart, brain (Alzheimer's), sexual organs, feet, legs, etc., and lead to dysfunctional cardiovascular and circulatory systems.
