Lead Paint and Children

August 16th, 2007

The recall of 7.3 million play sets from China tainted with lead paint is serious. It may or may not be the tip of the iceberg with the majority of toys in the world now made in China which clearly does not have consumer safeguards built into its system.

Lead is of course a dangerous heavy metal toxin that unfortunately effects children and their cognitive development more acutely. Some of the symptoms and effects of lead poisoning particularly on children are:

-Depression, mood swings

-Irritability, aggressive behaviors, temper tantrums

-Hearing loss, difficulty hearing

-Sleep difficulties/ disturbances

-Attention problems, lacks eye contact, impaired visual fixation

-Hyperactive behaviours, difficult to manage,

- Impaired Verbal function / linguistic deficits

-Visual-motor skills deficits

-Loss of appetite

-Impaired reaction time, lower performance on timed tests

-Uneven performance on IQ scores, low IQ scores

If you believe your child has been exposed to lead paint and heavy metal poisoning you can monitor their behavior and look for some of the changes listed above.

Our Detox Heavy Metals Oral Chelation formula is designed to help detoxify from heavy metal toxins like lead. You can learn more by visiting http://www.extremehealthusa.com

Toxins in the Water

Toxins in the Water

PlanetChiropractor.com
details the toxins in the water.

“The real threat is the remarkable cocktail of additional stuff the water may be carrying. Lead, arsenic, PCBs, pesticides, radioactive nucleotides and mercury are quite common in the world”s water supply these days, not to mention the poisons added on purpose, such as fluoride and chlorine.”

Then there is this ominous report about the toxins in the Great Lakes.
“Warnings about eating fish longer than 75 centimetres have been in place for years, as they accumulate toxics like mercury and furans in their fat over years. Now, fish around 55 centimetres long, which haven’t had as much time to accumulate toxins, are starting to show dangerous levels. That’s a sign that pollution has become more widespread, the report says”.

And then there is this about toxins released into the Puget Sound.

“Every day, industry and municipal sewage treatment plants dump 1 billion gallons of wastewater tainted with toxic chemicals and oxygen-robbing nutrients into Puget Sound and its tributaries.”
“The steady stream of wastewater from nearly 1,000 sources — ranging from giant oil refineries to boatyards — is allowed under a federal permitting system created with the passage of the 1972 Clean Water”

We need water to live and clearly it is increasingly being polluted at staggering levels. Detoxification is increasingly important; Please consider our Complete Detoxification Program.

Toxins and Children

June 19th, 2007

Here are some recent new stories that help illustrate the dangers of toxins particularly to children.
“Boys are more susceptible to health problems from environmental pollutants than girls, according to a report released Saturday by the Canadian Partnership for Children’s Health and Environment.”
“The findings show boys have a higher incidence of health problems, including asthma, cancer, learning and behavioral problems and birth defects.”
Read the story. here
It is somewhat surprising that boys are more susceptible but most importantly is the potential damage to all fetuses by relatively small amounts of certain toxins.

Here is another story about children are particularly vulnerable to toxins.
“One in every six U.S. children has a developmental disability. Not coincidentally, fetal and early childhood exposure to industrial chemicals, such as pesticides, nail polishes, cleaning products and glues, has been shown to damage the developing brain and lead to neuro-developmental disorders, including autism, attention-deficit disorder and mental retardation.”

And there this story about children where at least one parent smokes:

“Children who have at least one parent who smokes have 5.5 times higher levels of cotinine, a byproduct of nicotine, in their urine, according to a study by researchers from Warwick Medical School at the University of Warwick, and the University of Leicester.”

And what are we doing to protect them?

Certainly not enough and apparently very little when you consider:
“Most chemicals are not regulated to protect the developing brain,” said researcher Philippe Grandjean of the Harvard School of Public Health, co-author of a study in the British medical journal The Lancet that found 202 industrial chemicals in widespread use today that have the capacity to damage the brain.” Read the whole story here

New Toxins

June 6th, 2007

Building from yesterday’s post is a story with this headline from the Eugene Register-Guard. “Emerging new toxins at core of river samples analysis.”

“It’s also one of the next ground zeroes for scientists looking to identify an emerging set of toxins in Oregon’s rivers that come from both farms and people’s homes.

Some of the technological advances we are making maybe producing new toxins we don’t know or understand. Again the effects, especially long term detrimental effects from some of these new emerging toxins are not known.

And as the article points government budget cuts have stripped away some of the ability of those monitoring the toxins to track and understand these new toxins.

We do live in a toxin infested world and we must chronicle and understand what these toxins are, but to fully understand them and their long term effects will take years, in the meantime the only reasonable approach is to personally detoxify.

Does Anyone Really Understand What Toxins Are Doing to US

June 5th, 2007

This is an alarming story “from Canada.with the headline, “ Federal Government wants to better control 17 new toxins.”

Ottawa has identified 200 substances it wants under strict controls, and businesses must report their usage. The government will use that data to determine how to control the substances.”

“While new chemicals produced or imported into Canada must go through a testing process, there are tens of thousands of “legacy’’ chemicals that still have not been assessed for safety”

The array and number of toxins out there and that we are being exposed to is vast and does anyone really understand the danger they represent individually or especially in combinations or over sustained periods of time.

Everyday virtually everyone is exposed to toxins that governments are in many cases just beginning to try to assess their impacts and health risks.

Toxins and Diabetes?

June 1st, 2007

This report linking DDT to the development of diabetes is provocative and alarming.

“A new study by South Korean researchers has shown that people whose bodies are polluted by high levels of chemicals including the pesticide DDT and industrial coolants called PCBs are more likely to have diabetes than those with lower amounts in their bodies.”

Increasingly the links between toxins and diseases, including serious diseases like Diabetes really need to be studied comprehensively and but it is just common sense to avoid toxins and to detoxify.

We recommend you read this blog and the other reports linking disease and exposure to toxins and do your utmost to avoid these toxins and strongly consider detoxification.

More Evidence of How Pervasive Mercury Is

May 26th, 2007

Science Daily has two stories about Mercury’s pervasiveness.

First story reports New York, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont are joining together to stop airborne mercury from coal-fired power plants in the Midwest.

Second story, “the new study’s findings of mercury moving through the coastal groundwater system are said to be significant for researchers trying to quantify the impact of mercury in the marine environment.” This source of mercury poisoning of ocean waters was not well quantified or understood.
These stories can be considered to point the way to how really pervasive mercury exposure is: in the air, the water and in our food, namely fish, and in our mouths in dental fillings.
These are the reasons we strongly recommend our Detox Heavy Metals Plus Oral Chelation Formula.

Heavy Metal Exposure in Unlikely Places

May 20th, 2007

A study of ‘herbal kelp supplements led by UC Davis public health expert Marc Schenker concludes that its medicinal use may cause inadvertent arsenic poisoning and health dangers for consumers, especially when overused.”
Here we have another example of heavy metal poisoning showing up where one would not expect it and underscores the need for Detox Heavy Metals Plus Oral Chelation Formula.

Not only are their vast quantities of toxins being released into the environment (see our earlier posts) but we are assailed by heavy metals from a variety of sources around the house such as thermometers breaking or old paint or mercury in the fish we eat and even in nutritional supplements.

Complete Detoxification for Today’s World

May 1st, 2007

The good news is that we are becoming aware of the vast amount and array of toxins that each one of us is exposed to each and every day. In some ways it is a price for our easier lives as technology and our economy moves forward and there is need for feeding and housing a growing population.

Being aware is only the start because to be cognizant of the toxins that you are exposed to and likely have found their way into your body does nothing to eliminate those toxins. Awareness hopefully though hopefully does help you prevent toxins from entering your system but discrete action should be taken to help purge your toxins from your body.

Extreme Health offers the Complete Detoxification Program for you to begin your detoxification program gently, easily, conveniently and effectively.

Detox Heavy Metals Plus Formula focuses on the toxic heavy metals that can occur naturally in nature but increasingly are key components of our modern technological society and as result increases our exposure to many of these toxic heavy metals. For a detailed listing of sources and symptoms and effects of heavy metals please check out http://www.extremehealthusa.com/source.html

The liver is the primary detoxification organ for the body and while also emulsifying fat, so if the liver is bogged down and or clogged up not only will you not detoxify; you may also gain weight or have difficulty losing weight. For more information on Extreme Health’s Liver Support Formula

Businesses report in the USA releasing 2.17 million tons of toxins into the air, water and land.

April 22nd, 2007

The last two days we have come across two newspaper reports about toxins being released into the environment. These reports come from relatively small community newspapers and reference industrial areas that would not normally be viewed as heavily industrial and are based on businesses self reporting what they have released. With that preamble it is somewhat disconcerting to try and extrapolate how many tons of toxins are being released.

Tooele Transcript Bulletin outlining toxic releases this time in Tooele County in Utah.
“30 million pounds released by the second-largest polluter in the state & Kennecott Smelter and Refinery in Magna, which sits just over the county line. Kennecott Utah Copper Mine Concentrators & Power Plant in Copperton on the other side of the Oquirrh Mountains was the top releaser of toxins on the list, producing almost 97 million pounds that went into landfills, the air and water.”

The Roanoke Times is reporting “Virginia industries pumped 28,200 tons of toxins into the commonwealth’s air, water and land in 2005, according to the latest pollutant report. Nationwide, more than 23,000 industrial sites reported putting 2.17 million tons of toxins into the air, water and land.”
Based on self-reporting 2.17 million tons of toxins. The point is that you cannot avoid exposure to toxins.
Detoxifying is something everyone must consider and Extreme Health’s Detox Heavy Metals Oral Chelation Formula is an excellent starting place along with the Liver Support Formula(Cellular Rejuvenation), but the best approach is our Complete Detoxification Program.
